The NeSSIE project starts its path! NeSSIE - North Sea Solutions for Innovation in Corrosion for Energy project launched.
The NeSSIE project, co-funded by the EMFF programme of the European Union, will establish business collaborations in the North Sea basin targeted at delivering new business and investment opportunities for the maritime industry supply chain. The project will support consortia to scope and develop demonstration projects for corrosion solutions for use in the wave, tidal and offshore wind sectors. The solutions developed will be targeted at reducing costs and contributing towards the drive of these emerging sectors to achieve cost comparativeness with traditional energy generation.
The project is led by Scottish Enterprise (UK) and has a broad mix of partners from across Europe within the consortium. The partners are the Cluster de Energía del País Vasco (Spain), ASTER Società Consortile per Azioni (Italy), Sirris, het collectief centrum van de technologische industrie (Belgium), Svenskt Marintekniskt Forum (Sweden), University of Edinburgh (UK), FAEN Fundación Asturiana de la Energía (Spain) and Lombardy Energy Cleantech Cluster (Italy).
The project kick off meeting took place in Bilbao (Spain) on the 16th of May. This was followed with an official launch of the project during the EU Maritime Day 2017 on the 18th and 19th of May in Poole, UK, where the project leaders presented NeSSIE to Europe’s maritime community.
